Adult DVD Empire sent out a press release today saying that they were offering the
"first-ever" Region 1 (USA and Canada) "mature-rated" UMD for the Sony Play Station Portable handheld entertainment device.
Ah, yes, well it was bound to happen... frankly, I'm shocked it took so long. After all, it was way back in June that a Sony PR flack, anticipating the development, issued the following statement:
"It is utterly undesirable, but we cannot stop software makers from selling such videos."
Look, it's no great secret that pornography sells - softcore, hardcore and inbetween - and that porn was largely responsible for the growth of the VHS video industry back in the 80's and the DVD player in the 90's. So, it's no surprise that adult movies would find their way to new formats - like the PSP, mobile phones and the iPod - rather quickly.
But the last time we checked, you hold and control the PSP with two hands, so we're just wondering how you... oh, never mind.
In any case "Virtual Lap Dances #1" is from an outfit named "Bouncy Pictures" and it's now shipping at Adult DVD Empire. For the record, the release proudly proclaims that the film contains "full nudity" and features "12 girls performing lap dances in the first-person point of view."
By the way, UMDs - which, to my knowledge have still not been found in Iraq - are the latest in optical storage media and are designed for high speed and efficient delivery of digital content. Developed by Sony and initially only for use with the Sony PSP, "Universal Media Discs" offer a broad range of content including games, music videos, movies, sports programs and now, adult entertainment.
