The landmark, critically-acclaimed film, "Sybil," depicting the extraordinary real life of a young woman suffering from multiple personality disorder, arrives on DVD for the first time on July 18th from Warner Home Video.
This 30th Anniversary 2-Disc Set will include the original full-length broadcast version, along with exclusive new bonus features.
Based on a true story, "Sybil" debuted in 1976 to great acclaim. Sally Field stars in the title role as a woman who develops over 16 distinct personalities in order to cope and escape haunting memories of her harrowing childhood.
Joanne Woodward plays the understanding and compassionate psychiatrist who helps Sybil confront her horrific past and eliminate her demons. The late Daniel Petrie, Sr. directed this landmark TV movie.
"Sybil" won four Emmy Awards: Outstanding Special (Drama), Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama or Comedy Special for Sally Field, Outstanding Writing in a Special Program (Drama) for Stewart Stern and Outstanding Achievement in Music Composition for a Special (Dramatic Underscore).
There will be over 70 minutes of exclusive, never-before-seen special features in this release including “Examining Sybil” - a featurette with exclusive interviews with cast members Sally Field and Joanne Woodward, writer Stewart Stern, producer Peter Dunne, and close friends of the real Sybil - and "The Paintings of Sybil" - a gallery of never-before-seen artwork, by the real Sybil.
The film will be presented on DVD in full screen, with audio in English (Dolby Surround Stereo 2.0) and subtitles in French and Spanish.
