It's time once again for This Was The Week that Was,
during which we take a few moments to look back at the best of the week
just passed. If you're catching up on recent posts, here's what you may
have missed...
At the DVD Dossier this week, we announced these new releases: "Catch & Release" with Jennifer Gardner, director Guillermo del Toro's "Pan's Labyrinth," "The Katharine Hepburn Collection" and "The Ultimate Matrix Collection" (in HD DVD).
From television will come the Sixth Season of "Full House," the Second Season of "Twin Peaks," "Inside the Actors Studio: Johnny Depp," "Steven Wright: When the Leaves Blow Away," a Special Collector's Edition of "The 131st Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show," Season Eight of "The King of Queens," Season Five of "The Waltons" and an episode of Showtime's "Masters of Horror."
Also coming soon will be the "Lucille Ball Film Collection" and "The Original Nancy Drew Movie Mystery Collection."
In other news, Sony proudly sold 100,000 units of the Blu-ray Edition of "Casino Royale," some folks say Netflix doesn't play fair when it comes to the sale of gift certificates... and we took a close look at last Tuesdays new DVD releases and provided two opportunities to catch up on the news from other sites.
But our most popular story of the week was posted today, April 1st and was welcome news for those who have not yet chosen sides in the high definition format war: the HD DVD and Blu-ray camps have decided to bury the hatchet and will soon do away with the two competing formats in favor of a third format to be called HD-Blu.
