Hello, Deli

Miramax Home Entertainment will bring “Delicatessen” to DVD on May 2nd.

Delicatessen” is a unique, surreal, dark comedy that received tremendous critical acclaim when first seen in 1992. For his feature film debut, director Jean-Pierre Jeunet (“Amelie”) created an off beat,  funny movie that defies easy classification.

When a young clown, Louison (Dominique Pinon) moves into the apartment building, he quickly falls in love with the butcher’s daughter, Julie (Marie-Laure Dougnac). When Julie discovers that Louison  is to be next on her father’s menu, she must decide if she will remain loyal to her father, or expose the  truth in order to save her young Clown.

Delicatessen” also stars Karin Viard (Mademoiselle Plusse), Ticky Holgado (Marcel Tapioca) and  Anne-Marie Pisani (Madame Tapioca). The film was written by Gilles Adrien, Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Marc Caro and directed by Jeunet and Caro.

The film will be presented on DVD in widescreen (1.85:1) in French (Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo) with English and Spanish subtitles.

SRP has been set at $29.99, which means it’ll likely sell for about $21.00 at most online discount merchants.
